# Media Press Group and Webedia expand strategic streaming metadata partnership across major international markets

**The collaboration will support leading local entertainment brands such as AlloCiné, FILMSTARTS, Moviepilot, SensaCine and AdoroCinema, combining global data standardisation with strong local editorial expertise.**

**Schindellegi / Levallois-Perret, 20 October 2026**, Media Press Group, one of Europe’s leading providers of TV and streaming metadata, has expanded its cooperation with Webedia to support a broad international streaming metadata programme across key markets including France, Germany, Spain, Brazil and further territories.

The partnership covers a large multi-market scope across dozens of streaming services and is designed to help Webedia strengthen the consistency, quality and interoperability of entertainment data used by its leading local brands and editorial platforms. These include some of the best-known entertainment and digital media brands in their respective markets, such as AlloCiné in France, FILMSTARTS and Moviepilot in Germany, SensaCine in Spain, and AdoroCinema in Brazil.

## One identification framework, many markets

At the centre of the cooperation is Open ID, Media Press Group’s open and vendor-neutral identification framework for entertainment metadata. Rather than adding another proprietary layer to an already fragmented market, Open ID is designed to connect and harmonise data across catalogues, countries, languages and platforms. For media companies, publishers and operators, this creates a more stable foundation for search, discovery, editorial workflows, catalogue management and future AI-driven use cases.

The expanded partnership reflects a broader industry challenge: streaming catalogues, local editorial databases and platform data are increasingly fragmented across territories. A single title may exist in multiple language versions, under different local names, with different editorial descriptions, availability contexts and classification logic. By combining Media Press Group’s structured metadata infrastructure with Webedia’s strong local entertainment brands and editorial market knowledge, the cooperation aims to create a more consistent and scalable data backbone while preserving local relevance in each market.

## Local editorial strength, global consistency

For Media Press Group, the project is also a reference implementation of its broader strategy: building metadata systems that work globally but remain rooted in local editorial intelligence. The company operates across 18 countries with approximately 700 employees and combines local editorial expertise with modern IT infrastructure, AI-supported enrichment and data integration capabilities.

> “Entertainment metadata is no longer just a back-office asset. It is becoming a strategic layer for discovery, user experience, catalogue governance and platform independence. Our cooperation with Webedia shows how global standardisation and local editorial excellence can work together. With Open ID, we are helping create a more interoperable metadata ecosystem, one that supports publishers, platforms and operators without locking them into closed proprietary structures.”

> “Working with Media Press Group allows us to combine strong local editorial expertise with a scalable and consistent data framework across markets. This is essential to further improve the quality and coherence of our entertainment platforms.”

## A model for next-generation streaming metadata

The partnership is particularly relevant at a time when major telecom operators and entertainment platforms are reassessing how metadata supports their next-generation TV and streaming products. Large-scale EPG and VOD environments increasingly require consistent cross-market identifiers, strong local language quality, migration flexibility, rights-aware workflows and the ability to connect linear, on-demand and streaming catalogues into one coherent user experience.

Webedia is one of the world’s leading players in digital entertainment, operating major media and community brands across cinema, gaming, food, technology, lifestyle and entertainment. Its local brands reach large digital audiences and play an important role in how users discover, understand and engage with movies, series, games and entertainment content in their own languages and cultural contexts.

The cooperation between Media Press Group and Webedia will also include joint communication activities and a future case study, positioning the project as a reference model for scalable, localised and interoperable entertainment metadata operations.
